Search for the Perfect T

Life isn't easy, but still I tell myself, "If only I had the perfect t-shirt, then I would always have something to wear and nothing would bother me." While the perfect t-shirt may not be the answer to all of life's problems, American Eagle's Favorite T may solve some of your wardrobe issues. The deep v-neck is perfect for layering over a lacy cami or worn by its self, helps to lengthen your torso. It, also, comes in a bevy of colors from basic white to Riviera Blue, and at just $15.50, you can afford them all.

Mary Kay NouriShine Lip Gloss in Melon Sorbet

When I first started as a Mary Kay Consultant last summer, I stumbled upon Mary Kay's NouriShine Lip Gloss, which won me over with its sheer colors and non-sticky formula, and after trying just about every shade, I have to give a shout out for Melon Sorbet. Not only is the name delicious sounding, but the color gives me yummy looking lips. The creamy peachy shade heightens my lip's natural color making me look like I just finished eating a bowl of melon sorbet. The price is nice, too, at just $13.

Gossip Girl

While I am not a fan of the show (I have enough drama in my life, thank you very much), I love the clothes the girls wear on Gossip Girl. To get their looks, check out Makeup Loves Me's post and Instyle's episode guide. Also, check out The 'Gossip Girl' Guide to New York for hot spots on the show.

An Arsonist’s Guide to Writers’ Homes in New England

After seeing An Arsonist’s Guide to Writers’ Homes in New England by Brock Clarke in numerous magazines, I decided to check it out for myself, and I must admit I'm not sure what to make of it. It's a funny book without a happy ending. The main character is a "bumbler" whose greatest act is to take the blame for every wrong that occurs in the book. Most of the time I just want to shake common sense into the fools that populate this book. However, I like how the book explores the notion of storytelling and it's impact on other people. Just because you don't like the story doesn't mean that the story won't affect you. So, next time you're in New England, pick up An Arsonist's Guide and bumble your way through those stuffy, New England homes.

Shoes for Tomorrow

While every business these days is involved with a charity in some form, TOMS Shoes is about more than a sketchy 2% donation. For every pair of shoes you buy, TOMS while donate a pair to a child in need. In 2006, TOMS donated shoes in Argentina, and in 2007, TOMS donated 50,000 pairs in South Africa. The shoes are very comfortable (being based on a traditional Argentine shoe) and cost around $50 depending on the materials used. Now you can build your shoe collection and save the world.

Atonement Dress

While I haven't seen the movie yet, I am completely in love with Keira Knightley's green gown. In Style recently had a poll that named it the number one movie costume of all time. Southern Social found a version of the dress created by Faviana, who made it for the movie, and it is a decent copy for $238. Now if only I had a couple hundred to spare...

Mary Kay® Mineral Powder Foundation

I admit I was skeptical when I heard that Mary Kay was developing a mineral powder foundation (I know a MK consultant should never be skeptical about their products, but still...); however, when I tried their new Mary Kay® Mineral Powder Foundation, I became a believer. Even though it is a powder, I'm left with a glowing, even complexion I thought was only possible using creams. It's, also, great for people with lines because the powder doesn't fall into the lines and actually smooths them out a bit. Currently, the foundation is sold as a set with a nice, fat brush for $28. This is definitely worth trying.

Let's Say Thanks

Looking for a way to start the new year off right? Let's Say Thanks is an organization that allows people from all across the country to send messages to soldiers stationed overseas. The site allows you to pick a postcard design and then create your own message or pick one of their sample messages. The postcards are then sent with care packages to men and women stationed overseas. It's the easy way to spread a little holiday cheer.
